Break from Breton
January 24, 2012
Many ideas were born here
“What?! OUR Breton is gone?!” That is what one art director said in horror as he received the news that Café Breton in the neighboring Ziebert building had closed. He had reason to mourn as this was the team’s favorite place to brainstorm. Many ideas were born over Nutella crepes, fruit shakes, iced coffees and Marlboro Lights in this quaint coffee shop’s open air tables. There was something about being fueled by sugar, caffeine and nicotine (or just the freedom from the office’s confines!) that made ideating so much more easy and fun.
We were there so often that the waiter would automatically ask if we wanted our usual orders. When another agency with who we were friendly had its office in the same complex as ours, we would often bump into its creatives brainstorming there too. We would then either give each other dibs on who got to sit in the more coveted smoking section outside or decide to stay there too and just throw ideas to our team in a whisper.
Thankfully it is just a temporary goodbye. Our favorite waiter told us that by April, they would be opening right across the street in a building that’s even nicer than the original. We look forward to that day, knowing that the reunion of Breton and the Aspac team will be sweeter the second time around!
