Sinclair paints chooses a colorful agency with colorful ideas
January 11, 2012
It was quite a challenge. But a fun challenge, mind you.
Aspac was chosen to revitalize the Sinclair paint brand after a pitch against an undisclosed number of agencies. There was much merry-making after this, not just because of the win but because of the incredible opportunity to take an old brand to the modern age.
Sinclair, an iconic paint brand from the 1950s, was recently brought back by Magna Prime to the Philippines. This old brand date way back before the boom of the Internet. In fact, try googling it and you probably would have a hard time finding anything about it. It truly is a BC brand (Before Computers!!!) But painters and hardware owners still have fond memories of it. Just mention the line, “Don’t just paint it,” and they would automatically answer “Sinclair it!”.
Considering all this heritage, it was definitely quite thrilling to meet a client who wanted more fun and exciting ideas for his brand. Who wouldn’t be excited about the prospect of taking a brand from the past to the future? Who wouldn’t be thrilled to work with a client who wanted what was beyond the ordinary and mainstream?
The objective was clear. The brief was single-minded. The client was cool. It was advertising heaven. The whole team was quite excited about creating inciting ideas for Sinclair and go all the way with it.
So watch out for the relaunch of Sinclair soon. This is one paint brand that will surely do more than paint the town red.
